Best AI for Construction
AI for construction ranked on analyst placements, user ratings and published studies: construction platforms and point tools compared on AI features and pricing, plus AI estimating and takeoff accuracy, scheduling, site progress capture, safety, RFIs and contract review, adoption surveys and the risks of AI on a construction project.
Quick answer: The best AI for construction for most builders and general contractors is Procore, because it has the strongest user ratings of the construction platforms on this page, 4.6 from 4,363 reviews on G2 and 4.5 from 2,680 on Capterra, Verdantix placed it in the Leaders quadrant of its 2025 construction management benchmark, and its Procore AI agents draft RFIs, review submittals and write daily logs inside the project record, with every change staged for a person to approve. For teams that coordinate Revit and other models, Autodesk Forma (called Autodesk Construction Cloud until March 2026) is the better choice, because it is the other Verdantix Leader and carries Autodesk’s model coordination, drawing-change analysis and Autodesk Assistant. For AI takeoff, Togal.AI is the specialist pick at $299 per user a month billed yearly, and for AI drawing review inside a PDF markup tool, Bluebeam Max costs $590 per user a year. The caveat: Procore AI is a paid add-on metered in credits whose prices Procore does not publish, and the only published test of AI takeoff accuracy is a single-user academic study.
This page ranks AI for construction at the builder, general contractor and project level: estimating and takeoff, scheduling, site monitoring and progress capture, safety, design coordination and clash detection, and document control, RFIs and contract review. Four sibling pages cover the work on either side of it, and each does a different job:
- Best AI for architects covers professional design practice: rendering, concept and massing, Revit automation, code and zoning checks and specifications. Design tools appear here only where contractors use them for coordination.
- Best AI for tradespeople covers running a small trade business: quotes, scheduling and dispatch, call answering, invoicing and reviews.
- Best AI quoting software compares quoting tools across trades, sales and manufacturing. Commercial estimating and takeoff for construction projects stays on this page.
- Best AI floor plan generators covers homeowner and DIY layout tools.
General assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude are ranked on our best AI chatbots page, and autonomous agents that work across any task are ranked on best AI agents.

How construction software uses AI now
Two things define what a contractor is buying when it buys “AI for construction”.
Assistants became agents that draft project records. The big platforms moved from chat that answers questions to agents that write RFIs, review submittals and fill in daily logs:
| Vendor | Agent or AI product | Date | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| ALICE Technologies | Insights Agent, a chat interface that answers questions about a schedule and compares two schedules | 29 September 2025 | ALICE news and Bisnow |
| Bluebeam | Bluebeam Max announced, with AI drawing review, AI plan comparison and a Claude integration | 1 October 2025 | Architosh |
| Procore | Agent Builder in open beta for all customers, with an RFI Creation Agent and a Daily Log Agent | 15 October 2025 | Business Wire |
| OpenSpace | OpenSpace Field generally available, bringing image-linked field notes and issues to site teams | 2 February 2026 | OpenSpace press releases |
| Bluebeam | Bluebeam Max launched globally | 19 May 2026 | Bluebeam press |
| Autodesk | Next-generation Autodesk Assistant, Assistant Builder for customers’ own agents, a Sheets Agent and Drawing Change Analysis at Autodesk University | September to October 2026 | Autodesk and iTWire |
| Procore | Procore AI generally available through Digital Coworker packages, with 20 ready-made agents on the Pro package | 2026 | Procore support |
One brand disappeared. Autodesk Construction Cloud became Autodesk Forma on 24 March 2026: Autodesk Build is now Forma Build, Autodesk Takeoff is Forma Takeoff, Autodesk Docs is Forma Data Management and BIM Collaborate Pro is Forma Design Collaboration, with no change to existing licences.
How we ranked AI for construction
A tool is ranked only when there is more than one independent assessment of it from more than one kind of source, following the method on how we rank. For construction software, the evidence available is:
- Analyst evaluation. Verdantix’s Green Quadrant: Construction Management Software 2025, published on 19 June 2025, evaluated 12 vendors: Accruent, Autodesk, Bentley Systems, Dassault Systèmes, Hilti, Nemetschek, Omega 365, Oracle, Planon, Procore, RIB Software and Trimble. Verdantix’s summary says Autodesk and Procore “stand out” in the Leaders quadrant and that six vendors, Autodesk, Procore, RIB Software, Trimble, Nemetschek and Oracle, showed leading capabilities. The assessment used live product demonstrations against preset scenarios, an 83-point questionnaire, customer interviews and a survey of 100 capital project managers.
- A published study. A 2025 study by researchers at the University of Kansas, the Simplar Foundation, UNC Charlotte and Arizona State University compared Togal.AI with manual On-Screen Takeoff on real drawing sets, in the Journal of Research and Practice in Projects and Organizations.
- User ratings with volume. Star ratings and review counts from G2, Capterra and Software Advice.
Five limits apply:
- No independent benchmark of construction AI features exists. No credible independent publisher has run a controlled, multi-vendor test of RFI agents, schedule AI, progress tracking or safety detection. The one published accuracy study of AI takeoff used one first-time user on five drawings.
- Hands-on expert reviews are scarce and mostly affiliate-funded. TechRepublic’s Procore review draws on Procore’s website and user reviews rather than testing, predates Procore AI, and discloses that TechRepublic may earn from affiliate links. BestCRE’s Togal.AI review relies on Togal’s own claims and says the site may receive affiliate compensation.
- The analyst report scores the whole suite. A Verdantix Leader placement covers the entire construction management product, not its AI alone, and the full report is paywalled.
- User ratings cover the whole product. A G2 rating for Procore or Autodesk reflects years of use of document control, RFIs and field tools, most of it before the AI features existed.
- Several AI products are too new to have independent reviews. Procore’s Digital Coworker packages, Autodesk’s next-generation Assistant and Bluebeam Max all launched or changed in 2026.
Vendors’ own claims, such as accuracy percentages, time savings, customer counts and case studies, appear on this page labelled as claims and did not count towards a ranking.

| 5 | Oracle Construction and Engineering | Owners and large capital programmes | Natural-language analytics over Primavera and Aconex data; safety-risk forecasting | Quote only | 4.4 (Primavera, 346); 4.5 (Aconex, 199) | Data not available | One of six vendors with leading capabilities, Verdantix 2025 |
The Verdantix report is the Green Quadrant: Construction Management Software (CMS) 2025, published 19 June 2025. Review counts are in brackets. G2 counts differ slightly between a product’s own page and G2’s category pages; this table uses each product page where one exists, and G2’s construction category listing for Primavera and Aconex. G2 lists Autodesk Forma as “formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud”, so its count includes reviews of the earlier products.
The best AI for construction, reviewed
1. Procore: best AI for construction for most general contractors
What the AI does. Procore AI is a side-panel assistant that answers questions about project data with cited sources and analyses drawings, RFIs, submittals and photos. Procore’s agents draft and update items in Procore, and every proposed change is staged for a person to review and approve. Procore AI only shows each user the data that user’s existing Procore permissions allow. The Digital Coworker packages set what a customer gets:
- Starter Pack: six months, a flat rate for up to three projects, with Deep Search, Submittal Review, RFI, Daily Log and Contract Review agents.
- Pro: 12 months, credit-metered, unlimited projects, 20 ready-made agents covering planning, bidding, safety, quality and risk, plus scheduled automations and video analysis.
- Enterprise: everything in Pro plus Agent Studio for custom agents and a business-intelligence connection.
Procore AI runs on large language models from Anthropic and Google on every package, and adds OpenAI on Pro and Enterprise, according to Procore’s plans page. Procore completed its acquisition of Datagrid in January 2026, which connects Procore AI to ERP and cloud-storage data outside Procore, and completed its $845 million acquisition of DroneDeploy on 9 September 2026, which adds drone and ground imagery of the jobsite.
Independent evidence.
- Procore holds a G2 rating of 4.6 from 4,363 reviews, the highest rating among the construction management platforms on this page with more than 1,000 reviews.
- Procore holds a Capterra rating of 4.5 from 2,680 reviews, with 4.5 for customer service and 4.1 for value for money.
- Verdantix’s 2025 construction management benchmark says Procore and Autodesk “stand out” in the Leaders quadrant (19 June 2025).
Pricing. Procore does not publish prices, and Capterra’s listing shows a starting point of $10,000 a year with unlimited users. Procore AI is bought separately as a Digital Coworker package. Pro and Enterprise draw on one shared pool of Procore Credits: questions, searches and workflows consume credits, and indexing project data costs 3 credits per gigabyte per day, so 100 GB costs 300 credits a day. Credit-consuming features pause after a short grace period when the pool runs out. Procore does not publish the dollar price of a credit or the size of each package’s pool.
Watch out for. Enabling Procore AI on a project cannot be undone, and Procore AI cannot yet learn from the newer Document Management tool, which Procore plans for 2026. The interface is in English and uses US construction terminology. No independent review has tested the Digital Coworker agents.
Vendor claims. Procore says it has run more than 3 million projects in more than 150 countries and that, in the year before July 2026, its platform held nearly 400 million photos, more than 126 million drawings and more than 10 million RFIs, submittals and inspections, according to its DroneDeploy announcement.
Why it’s number one. Procore and Autodesk Forma were close: Verdantix singled out both. Procore wins on user ratings, which are higher on G2 and come from a far larger Capterra base than Autodesk Build’s four reviews, and on the breadth of AI that is generally available for the contractor’s daily paperwork, which covers RFIs, submittals, daily logs and contract review. Autodesk Forma is the better pick for a team whose work centres on coordinating Autodesk models.
2. Autodesk Forma: best AI for model coordination and Autodesk shops
What the AI does. Autodesk Forma is Autodesk’s industry cloud for design and construction, renamed from Autodesk Construction Cloud on 24 March 2026, and includes Forma Build, Forma Takeoff, Forma Estimate, Forma Data Management and Forma Design Collaboration. At Autodesk University 2026, Autodesk introduced Drawing Change Analysis, which identifies meaningful changes between drawing revisions, and a Sheets Agent that searches inside drawings. Autodesk announced Project Home AI Insights, which flags RFIs, issues and schedule items needing attention, and Workflow Studio for automating repeatable project processes, without availability dates. The next-generation Autodesk Assistant works across Autodesk products, turns natural-language requests into reviewable actions and, through Assistant Builder, lets customers connect their own agents, iTWire reported on 24 September 2026. A Drawing Compliance Review agent that checks drawings against codes is expected in early 2027, according to the same report. Autodesk closed its acquisition of Rhumbix, a jobsite labour and equipment data company, on 31 March 2026.
Independent evidence.
- Autodesk Forma holds a G2 rating of 4.4 from 5,667 reviews, under a listing G2 labels “formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud”.
- Verdantix’s 2025 benchmark names Autodesk, with Procore, as standing out in the Leaders quadrant.
- Autodesk Build holds a Capterra rating of 4.5 from only 4 reviews, too few to weigh.
Pricing. Autodesk’s construction pricing page describes “flexible user, project, and account-based” pricing and sends buyers to a quote. Capterra lists Autodesk Build from $165 per user a month with a free trial. Autodesk’s rename notice says licences and subscriptions did not change with the Forma brand.
Watch out for. Most of Autodesk’s 2026 AI announcements target design and engineering rather than site operations: Verdantix’s review of Autodesk University 2026 (8 October 2026) says the announcements offered “little construction-specific detail” and relied mainly on Autodesk’s own statistics. Several construction features, including Project Home AI Insights and Workflow Studio, were announced without release dates.
Vendor claims. Autodesk describes Forma as an “AI-native platform”.
3. Togal.AI: best AI for quantity takeoff
What the AI does. Togal.AI detects, measures and labels areas, counts and lengths on PDF, JPEG, PNG and TIFF drawings, lets estimators “talk” to their plans through a chat feature, and compares drawing versions to quantify changes. Outside collaborators can join a takeoff without a Togal account.
Independent evidence.
- Togal.AI holds a G2 rating of 4.8 from 61 reviews.
- A 2025 study by Victoria Marulanda and Brian Lines of the University of Kansas, with co-authors from the Simplar Foundation, UNC Charlotte and Arizona State University, found Togal.AI took 37 minutes against 2 hours 35 minutes for manual On-Screen Takeoff on a fire station plan (75.58% saving) and saved 66.58% on a multistorey hotel plan. After manual adjustments, most quantity differences between the two methods were under 5%. The study is covered in detail in the estimating and takeoff accuracy section below.
Pricing. Togal.AI’s pricing page lists Growth at $299 per user a month billed yearly, with unlimited automated takeoffs, chat prompts and image searches and unlimited external collaborators. Business is custom-priced for teams of four or more users and adds onboarding, a dedicated support contact, quantity discounts and single sign-on. Togal.AI publishes no month-to-month price and no free plan.
Watch out for. Togal.AI’s headline accuracy claim and the independent study disagree in emphasis: Togal says it automates takeoffs “with 98% accuracy”, while the Kansas study found AI-generated quantities before manual correction differed from the manual baseline by more than 12% on some footprints. Togal hosts the study on its own site under a “Peer Reviewed” label, and the study contains no funding or conflict-of-interest statement.
Vendor claims. Togal says it can remove as much as 80% of manual takeoff work and that setup takes “a matter of hours”.
4. Bluebeam (Max plan): best AI for drawing review and markup-based takeoff
What the AI does. Bluebeam Max, launched globally on 19 May 2026, adds four AI features to Bluebeam Revu and Bluebeam Cloud. Smart Review flags design discrepancies, scope gaps and missing information. Smart Overlay finds design changes and discrepancies across full drawing sets and disciplines. Magic Markups automates repetitive markup to cut clicks in takeoffs. A Claude integration through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets users automate tasks and analyse markup data with natural-language prompts. Bluebeam’s AI drawing review came from its acquisition of Firmus-AI, according to Architosh.
Independent evidence.
- Bluebeam holds a G2 rating of 4.6 from 494 reviews.
- Nemetschek, Bluebeam’s parent company, was named a Leader in the 2025 Verdantix Green Quadrant for construction management software, with Bluebeam among the brands evaluated, according to Nemetschek (1 July 2025).
Pricing. Bluebeam publishes its prices per user a year, billed annually: Basics $260, Core $330, Complete $440 and Max $590. Max is the only plan with listed AI features. Bluebeam labels the $590 price introductory and has not published the standard price that follows.
Watch out for. Bluebeam is a PDF markup and measurement tool, so its takeoff automation speeds up manual markup rather than detecting quantities automatically as Togal.AI does. The ratings above cover Revu as a whole, and no independent review has tested the Max AI features.
5. Oracle Construction and Engineering: best for owners and large capital programmes
What the AI does. Oracle’s Construction and Engineering Intelligence answers natural-language questions over data piped from Primavera P6 EPPM, Primavera Cloud, Unifier and Aconex, writes AI narratives for dashboards and runs root-cause and trend analysis. Its Advisor for Safety analyses observations, incidents, workforce data, schedules, weather and documents to forecast which projects are most likely to have a safety incident, ranks projects in a weekly risk summary and recommends mitigations. The safety models came from Oracle’s acquisition of Newmetrix, formerly Smartvid.io, completed on 16 December 2022, whose image AI was trained to detect 100 safety risks, according to ENR.
Independent evidence.
- Oracle is one of the six vendors that Verdantix found showed leading construction management capabilities in 2025.
- Oracle Primavera holds a G2 rating of 4.4 from 346 reviews and Oracle Aconex 4.5 from 199, in G2’s construction product listings.
Pricing. Oracle does not publish prices for Primavera, Aconex or Construction and Engineering Intelligence.
Watch out for. Oracle’s page gives no quantified results for its safety or analytics AI, and does not describe a dedicated schedule-prediction model. The Newmetrix predictive model needs 18 to 24 months of a customer’s data, Oracle’s Josh Kanner told For Construction Pros, while Oracle’s current page says forecasts can start at implementation using models trained on construction project data.
Vendor claims. Oracle cites a customer, Boldt, that reduced workers’ compensation expenses by 75%, according to For Construction Pros; the article does not say how that was measured or whether the software caused it.

Estimating and takeoff accuracy: what the evidence shows
Estimating is where contractors use AI most after office work: 23% of firms use AI for estimating, according to the 2026 Construction Hiring and Business Outlook survey of 951 respondents by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and Sage.
Only one published study tests AI takeoff against a human baseline. The Kansas study, with testing done in March 2025, had one first-time user take off quantities with Togal.AI and with manual On-Screen Takeoff:
| Test drawing | Togal.AI time | Manual time | Time saved | Quantity difference after adjustment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fire station, two floor plans | 37 minutes | 2 hours 35 minutes | 75.58% | Footprint 0.34% |
| Multistorey hotel, two floor plans | 21.54 minutes | 1.07 hours | 66.58% | Footprint 0.33% |
| Control: reflected ceiling plan | 16.7 minutes | 21.67 minutes | 22.92% | Exhaust fan area 40.83%, from small absolute differences |
Four findings matter for a buyer:
- The time saving comes from AI plus human correction, not AI alone. Before manual adjustments, some AI footprint quantities differed from the manual baseline by more than 12%.
- Small items are where errors concentrate. The 40.83% difference on exhaust fan area came from minor absolute discrepancies on a small quantity.
- The control case shrinks the saving. On the ceiling plan, which the authors used to test for learning-curve bias, the saving fell to 22.92%.
- The sample is tiny. One user took off five drawings, so the study shows what is possible, not what a typical estimating team will get.
Vendor accuracy claims are higher and untested. Togal.AI claims 98% accuracy, and Attentive.ai describes Beam AI as giving “100% automated takeoffs” with human checking. One STACK user on Capterra wrote that the AI “is legitimately useful for certain things” and estimated a 30% cut in takeoff and estimating time, attributing most of it to switching to STACK overall.
User satisfaction is a separate signal from accuracy. Capterra’s September 2026 analysis of construction estimating software, by Baljeet Kaur, ranked tools by Capterra rating and put residential and small-contractor tools such as JobTread, ArcSite and Hover at the top; none of the commercial AI takeoff tools on this page appeared in its top 10.
Safety: what AI can and cannot show yet
Construction is the industry where AI safety tools would matter most: 1,034 US construction workers died on the job in 2024, a rate of 9.2 deaths per 100,000 full-time workers, and falls, slips and trips caused 389 of those deaths, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released on 19 February 2026.
No independent study shows that a commercial AI safety product reduces injuries or deaths on construction sites. Two systematic reviews explain why:
- A November 2025 review in Buildings by Sharmin Jahan Badhan and Reihaneh Samsami covered 122 peer-reviewed studies from 2016 to 2025 and found that most AI safety models remain at experimental or pilot stage, that few were tested across several projects, and that models degrade with changes in lighting, dust, PPE appearance or site layout and often need local retraining.
- A June 2026 review in the Journal of Information Technology in Construction by Prosper Gbiengu, Chukwuma Nnaji and co-authors analysed 181 articles published up to July 2025 and grouped them into seven themes, including accident analysis, PPE detection, ergonomic risk and fatigue.
Laboratory accuracy figures do not transfer to a jobsite. A December 2025 paper in Scientific Reports claimed 99.9% detection accuracy for a drone-based safety model in its abstract, while its own reported precision was mostly 0.8 to 0.9 and recall mostly 0.6 to 0.7, on a public dataset of 2,801 images.
The commercial safety AI on this page works in two ways, and both rest on vendor claims:
- Image hazard detection. DroneDeploy Safety AI detects OSHA safety risks in site imagery, and DroneDeploy brought more than 100,000 labelled safety issues to Procore, according to Procore. Procore Assist added photo intelligence that flags safety insights from jobsite photos in October 2025.
- Predictive risk scoring. Oracle’s Advisor for Safety forecasts which projects in a portfolio are most likely to have an incident from observations, incidents, schedules and weather.
Treat safety AI as a second pair of eyes on photos and records, not as evidence that a site is safe, and ask any vendor for incident-rate data from comparable sites before and after deployment.
Scheduling and site progress: early, well funded, thinly reviewed
AI scheduling and progress-tracking tools have almost no independent assessment, which is why none is ranked on this page.
- Generative scheduling. ALICE Technologies simulates scheduling options from a P6 or Primavera Cloud baseline and exports the chosen schedule back. ALICE claims 17% shorter project durations, 14% lower labour costs and 12% lower equipment costs, and its chief executive said the Insights Agent “almost doesn’t hallucinate”. ALICE and McKinsey formalised an alliance in April 2026 to deploy generative scheduling. ALICE has no reviews on G2.
- Schedule risk forecasting. nPlan forecasts schedule risk and generates schedules with Schedule Studio, and describes Barry as its project controls and delivery agent.
- Progress capture. Buildots compares 360-degree helmet-camera footage with the schedule and flags pacing problems. OpenSpace bought Disperse in October 2025 to add progress tracking. DroneDeploy’s Progress AI builds progress reports from 360-degree walks and aerial imagery without a 3D model.
Every performance figure in this section comes from the vendors.

| Deltek Clarity A&E study | AI adoption among architecture and engineering firms rose from 53% to 70% in a year, but only 38% report measurable business benefits | 896 A&E firms in the US and Canada; published August 2026 |
| Verdantix Green Quadrant CMS 2025 | Vendors are differentiating through built-in analytics, integrated AI and mobile-first site tools | 12 vendors; survey of 100 capital project managers |
Two patterns run through the surveys. Use is spreading fast, but mostly at the edges: the AGC’s largest single use is office and administrative work, and RICS found regular use in construction at only 19%. Benefits lag adoption: Deltek found that fewer than two in five A&E firms using AI can measure a business benefit. The surveys also define “use” differently, so their headline percentages are not comparable with each other.
Using ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot on a construction project
Many project teams use a general AI assistant alongside their construction platform to draft RFIs, summarise specifications, write method statements and check meeting minutes. General assistants are ranked on our best AI chatbots page, with ChatGPT, Claude and Microsoft Copilot each covered on its own page.
Three facts decide whether a general assistant is enough:
- The construction platforms now run on the same models. Procore AI uses models from Anthropic, Google and OpenAI, and Bluebeam Max connects Revu to Anthropic’s Claude through MCP. What the platform adds is access to the project record, permissions and an approval step.
- A general assistant does not know your drawings, RFIs or contract until you give them to it. Uploading a full drawing set or contract to a personal chat account puts project data outside the contract’s confidentiality terms; use a business plan with its own data terms, or the platform’s built-in AI.
- Long drawing sets need tools built for them. General assistants read PDFs as text and images, but they do not measure to scale; quantity takeoff needs a takeoff tool such as Togal.AI, STACK or Bluebeam.
For reading long specifications and contracts in a general assistant, see best AI for PDF.
Risks to check before you switch on construction AI
- Liability stays with the contractor. Procore stages every agent change for a person to approve, according to Procore, and Autodesk’s planned Drawing Compliance Review keeps a human in the review loop, according to iTWire. An AI-drafted RFI, quantity or contract summary that a person approves is that person’s work product.
- Takeoff errors hide in small quantities. The Kansas study found AI footprint quantities more than 12% off before correction and a 40.83% gap on a small item after correction. Check AI quantities line by line before they reach a bid.
- Project data goes to third-party model providers. Procore AI sends prompts to models from Anthropic, Google and, on higher tiers, OpenAI. Ask every vendor in writing whether customer project data is used to train models and where it is processed.
- Metered AI can stop mid-project. Procore’s credit-consuming features pause after a short grace period when a pool runs out, and indexing a 100 GB project uses 300 credits a day before anyone asks a question.
- Some switches cannot be undone. Enabling Procore AI on a project is permanent, according to Procore’s own documentation.
- Acquisitions change roadmaps and contracts. Document Crunch now belongs to Trimble, DroneDeploy to Procore, Datagrid to Procore and Rhumbix to Autodesk. Datagrid’s products remain available to non-Procore customers, Procore said; check the renewal terms of any point tool bought by a competitor of your platform.
- Safety AI is unproven against injury rates. No independent study links a commercial construction safety AI to fewer injuries, and reviews of the research find most models untested outside pilots.
Best AI for construction for each job

Document Crunch is the specialist AI contract-review tool for construction, bought by Trimble for $246.4 million in April 2026, but it is not ranked here because it has only 4 reviews on G2.
How to choose
- Start from the platform you already run. If your RFIs, submittals and drawings live in Procore, Autodesk Forma or Oracle, use that vendor’s AI first, because every agent on this page works best on its own vendor’s records.
- Price the AI separately from the platform. Ask Procore for the credit allotment in each Digital Coworker package and the price of more credits, and ask how much of the pool project indexing will use each day.
- Buy takeoff AI for the drawings you actually bid. Run a trial on two or three of your own recent bids, compare the AI quantities with your final takeoff line by line, and measure correction time as well as detection time.
- Keep a human sign-off on everything that leaves the company. Choose tools that stage changes for approval, and make the approving estimator or project manager responsible for the output.
- Ask safety AI vendors for incident data, not detection rates. A model that spots missing hard hats in photos does not show that a site has fewer injuries.
- Check what happens to your data and your contract if the vendor is acquired. Five AI and jobsite-data specialists changed owners between October 2025 and September 2026: Disperse, Datagrid, Rhumbix, Document Crunch and DroneDeploy.
- Use a general assistant for drafting, not measuring. ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot help with RFIs, method statements and specification summaries, but quantities need a takeoff tool that measures to scale.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI for construction?
The best AI for construction for most general contractors is Procore, because it is rated 4.6 from 4,363 reviews on G2 and 4.5 from 2,680 on Capterra, Verdantix named it a Leader in its 2025 construction management benchmark, and its Procore AI agents draft RFIs, review submittals and write daily logs with every change staged for human approval. Autodesk Forma is the better choice for teams coordinating Autodesk models, Togal.AI for AI quantity takeoff and Bluebeam Max for AI drawing review.
How is AI used in construction?
AI is used in construction for estimating and quantity takeoff, scheduling, site progress tracking from 360-degree and drone imagery, safety hazard detection, design coordination, and drafting RFIs, submittals, daily logs and contract reviews. The AGC and Sage 2026 outlook survey of 951 respondents found that 45% of firms use AI for office and administrative work, 23% for estimating and 20% for design or preconstruction.
What is the best AI estimating software for construction?
Togal.AI is the best AI takeoff and estimating tool for commercial work on this page, because it is rated 4.8 from 61 reviews on G2, publishes its price of $299 per user a month billed yearly, and is the only AI takeoff tool on this page tested in a published academic study. STACK, Beam AI and Kreo also sell AI-assisted takeoff but have less independent assessment.
How accurate is AI takeoff software?
AI takeoff is accurate after human correction but not before it. A 2025 University of Kansas study found that Togal.AI quantities, once adjusted by the user, mostly differed from manual takeoff by less than 5%, with footprints within 0.34%, but some uncorrected AI footprints were more than 12% off and one small item differed by 40.83%. Togal.AI claims 98% accuracy, a figure no independent test has reproduced.
Does Procore have AI?
Procore has AI through Procore AI, sold as Digital Coworker packages: a six-month Starter Pack for up to three projects with RFI, Submittal Review, Daily Log, Contract Review and Deep Search agents, a Pro package with 20 agents, and an Enterprise package that adds Agent Studio for custom agents. Pro and Enterprise are metered in Procore Credits, whose dollar price Procore does not publish.
Does Autodesk Construction Cloud have AI?
Autodesk Construction Cloud was renamed Autodesk Forma on 24 March 2026, and its AI includes Drawing Change Analysis, a Sheets Agent that searches inside drawings and the next-generation Autodesk Assistant, all introduced at Autodesk University 2026. Autodesk announced Project Home AI Insights and Workflow Studio for construction project management without release dates.
How much does AI construction software cost?
AI construction software ranges from published per-user prices for point tools to quote-only platforms. Bluebeam Max costs $590 per user a year, Togal.AI $299 per user a month billed yearly, and DroneDeploy’s Flight and Analysis plan $4,188 a year, while Procore, Autodesk Forma and Oracle sell by quote and Procore meters its AI in credits on top of the platform.
Can AI improve construction safety?
AI can flag hazards in site photos and forecast which projects carry the most risk, but no independent study shows that a commercial construction safety AI reduces injuries. A 2025 review of 122 studies in Buildings found most AI safety models remain at experimental or pilot stage and degrade with changes in lighting, dust or site layout. US construction recorded 1,034 deaths in 2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Can AI create a construction schedule?
AI can generate and optimise construction schedules: ALICE Technologies simulates options from a P6 or Primavera Cloud schedule, and nPlan’s Schedule Studio generates and edits schedules. ALICE claims 17% shorter project durations, but no independent study has measured the results of AI scheduling on real projects.
Will AI replace estimators or project managers?
No independent evidence shows AI replacing estimators or project managers, and the published evidence points the other way: the 2025 Kansas takeoff study found the time savings came from AI detection plus human correction. RICS’s 2026 survey of more than 3,100 professionals found that only 19% of construction respondents use AI regularly.
Is ChatGPT good for construction?
ChatGPT is useful in construction for drafting RFIs, method statements, emails and specification summaries, but it does not measure drawings to scale and does not know a project’s records until they are shared with it. Contractors handling project documents should use a business plan with its own data terms, or the AI built into Procore, Autodesk Forma or Bluebeam, which keeps work inside the project record.
Who owns the data in construction AI tools?
Data ownership depends on each vendor’s contract, and the AI layer adds third parties: Procore AI sends prompts to models from Anthropic, Google and OpenAI, and Bluebeam Max connects to Anthropic’s Claude. Ask each vendor in writing whether project data trains its models, where it is processed and what happens to it if the vendor is acquired.
What AI companies did Procore and Autodesk buy?
Procore bought Datagrid, an AI agent and data-connector company, in January 2026 and DroneDeploy, a drone and ground reality-capture company, for about $845 million in cash, completing the deal on 9 September 2026. Autodesk closed its acquisition of Rhumbix, a jobsite labour and equipment data company, on 31 March 2026, and Trimble bought Document Crunch, an AI contract-review company, for $246.4 million on 4 April 2026.
