Pew found signs of AI authorship in 35 per cent of web pages published since ChatGPT's launch, and OpenAI shipped a macOS plug-in that reads and sends Apple Messages on your behalf.
A third of post-ChatGPT web pages show signs of AI authorship Pew Research published an analysis on Thursday of 490,000 English-language pages pulled from Common Crawl, finding AI authorship or heavy AI editing in 35 per cent of pages published after ChatGPT’s November 2022 release, against 10 per cent of a random July 2026 sample that still includes older pages. It splits hard by domain: around 10 per cent on .com, 4.6 per cent on .org, and roughly 1 per cent on both .edu and .gov. Source
OpenAI is closing the gap with Anthropic on business spending Ramp’s card and bill-pay data across more than 70,000 American businesses, released on Thursday, puts Anthropic at nearly 44 per cent of paying business users in July against OpenAI’s nearly 40 — but OpenAI has grown faster so far this quarter, after losing the lead in May. The share of Ramp customers paying for any AI at all went from 50 per cent in March to nearly 56 per cent in July — with the stated caveat that Ramp’s panel skews away from the large enterprises on rival spend platforms. ChatGPT can now read and send your iMessages on a Mac OpenAI shipped an Apple Messages plug-in for the macOS desktop app on Thursday, letting the model search message history, summarise threads, draft replies and send texts — iMessage, SMS and RCS — through Messages itself; it is Apple Silicon only, with nothing on web or mobile. Sending is gated behind per-message approval by default, and OpenAI warns users to think hard before granting the persistent approval that removes that final review. Source
Binance opened its trading infrastructure to AI agents Agent OS, launched Thursday, wires Binance’s trading, wallet, payment and on-chain APIs into ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code and Cursor over the Model Context Protocol. Agents run in dedicated sub-accounts with withdrawals blocked by default and caps of $50,000 a day on swaps, $100,000 on DeFi transactions and $20 on x402 payments; how much goes into the sub-account is the user’s call. Google gave publishers a button to become a preferred source Two lines of HTML now embed an interactive Preferred Sources button on a publisher’s own site, automatically translated to the reader’s language, adding that publication to their results in Top Stories and in AI Mode and AI Overviews. Google said in April — when it took the feature global — that readers are twice as likely to click through to a source they have marked as preferred, and that more than 200,000 sites had already been selected. xAI called Grok’s gibberish replies a rare temporary glitch Grok Lite users started getting nonsense from Wednesday morning — one asked for a PDF and got “match it without and your they and two for planets can practical and often cheese” — and xAI said on Thursday it was a “rare temporary generation glitch”, advising a fresh chat or a regeneration. Google’s Spirit Airlines data purchase was pushed back to 9 September The bankruptcy court adjourned Wednesday’s approval hearing after the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA objected to the $10M sale of roughly 600 million internal emails and chat messages generated by the collapsed airline’s 17,000 staff. The union wants restrictions on flight-attendant records and further protections for former employees if the sale goes ahead. Source
