Best AI Personal Assistants
The best AI personal assistants for running your own calendar, inbox, reminders and tasks, ranked on independent evidence: ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude, Reclaim.ai, Motion and Akiflow compared on what they can actually do with your email and calendar, price, ratings and safety, plus the AI calendar assistants, voice assistants and new agents worth knowing.
Quick answer: The best AI personal assistant for most people is ChatGPT, because both independent head-to-head reviews we found pick it as the best all-round assistant (Zapier; Tom’s Guide), it has the largest user rating base of any assistant app (4.8 from 11 million App Store ratings), and it connects to Gmail, Google Calendar and Outlook and runs scheduled tasks. If your life runs on Gmail and Google Calendar, Google Gemini is the better choice, because it reads your Google data for free in the US and Google documents that it can create and cancel Calendar events from a prompt. If you want an assistant that edits your calendar and sends email for you, asking before each action, Claude is the pick, because Anthropic documents create, update and delete access to Google Calendar and sending from Gmail for all Claude users, with approval required by default. For a dedicated AI calendar assistant, Reclaim.ai is the best choice, because Zapier ranks it the number one AI scheduling assistant and it has a free plan. The one caveat: an assistant that can read your inbox can be tricked by what lands in it, and researchers have hijacked Gemini through a malicious calendar invite, so keep approvals switched on for anything that sends, deletes or books.
This page ranks AI personal assistants for individuals: tools that look after one person’s calendar, inbox, reminders and to-do list. That is a different job from the pages next to it:
- Best AI apps ranks the general consumer AI apps for chat, writing, images and research. This page ranks the same apps only on the personal-assistant job.
- Best AI agents ranks autonomous agents that browse, code and finish multi-step projects. This page covers the narrower, everyday job of running your schedule and inbox.
- Best AI for email ranks AI email clients and inbox tools such as Superhuman, Shortwave and Fyxer in depth.
- Best AI for meeting notes ranks notetakers that record and summarise calls.
- Best AI automation tools ranks workflow builders such as Zapier, Make and Lindy for teams that want to automate across many apps.
Which one should you pick?
| If you want | Pick | Price | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| One assistant for planning, reminders, research and email help | ChatGPT | Free; Plus $20 a month | Top pick in both independent head-to-head reviews; 4.8 from 11 million App Store ratings; scheduled tasks and Gmail, Google Calendar and Outlook connections |
| An assistant that already knows your Gmail and Google Calendar | Google Gemini | Free; Google AI Plus $4.99, AI Pro $19.99 a month | Personal Intelligence free for US users since 17 March 2026; creates Calendar events from a prompt; Zapier’s pick for Google users |
| An assistant that edits your calendar and sends email, asking before each action | Claude | Free; Pro $20 a month ($17 billed annually) | Creates, updates and deletes Google Calendar events and sends Gmail, with approval by default, for all Claude users; top score on the PA Bench email-and-calendar benchmark |
| AI that defends focus time and schedules habits around meetings | Reclaim.ai | Free Lite plan; Starter $10 a seat a month billed annually | Number one in Zapier’s AI scheduling assistants test (September 2026); 4.8 from 144 G2 reviews |
| AI that plans your whole day of tasks and projects for you | Motion | Pro AI from $19 a seat a month; no free plan | Auto-schedules every task into your calendar; 4.1 from 1,900 App Store ratings and 578 Trustpilot reviews |
| One inbox for every task, with time-blocking | Akiflow | Pro $19 a month billed annually, $34 monthly | Zapier’s pick for a single task inbox; 4.8 from 99 G2 reviews |
| AI that writes and sorts your email inside the inbox | See best AI for email | Varies | Superhuman, Shortwave and Fyxer are ranked there |
What an AI personal assistant can do now
An AI personal assistant is software that reads your calendar, email, reminders or task list, works out what needs doing and either does it or prepares it for you to approve.
The category now holds three kinds of product:
| Kind | Examples | What it does well | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|---|
| General AI assistants with connected accounts | ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot | Answers questions about your inbox and calendar, drafts replies, plans your day, runs scheduled check-ins | Rarely rearranges your calendar on its own; most actions need a prompt and an approval |
| AI calendar and task assistants | Reclaim.ai, Motion, Akiflow, Morgen | Places tasks, habits and focus time into free slots and reshuffles them when meetings move | Does not read or answer your email, and is not a chatbot for general questions |
| Delegated assistants you message or copy in | Poke, Howie, Read AI Ada, Alexa+ | Books meetings over email or text, sends reminders, handles errands by message or voice | Less independent evidence so far; most are new or invitation-led |
The jobs people hand over most are writing and organising. In Menlo Ventures’ 2026 State of Consumer AI survey of 5,067 US adults, conducted with Morning Consult in July 2026, 25% of Americans used AI every day, up from 19% a year earlier. In the same survey, 41% of AI users had tried an AI agent and 24% used one regularly. Menlo reports that consumers had given agents access to their email (36%) and their calendar (27%); the survey page does not state the base for those two figures. Menlo Ventures invests in AI companies.
What the independent evidence says
Two expert head-to-heads both pick ChatGPT. Zapier’s review of AI personal assistants names ChatGPT “the best overall AI personal assistant”, Gemini the pick for Google Workspace integration, Claude the pick for coding and long-context writing, Reclaim the pick for calendar and time management and Motion the pick for project management. Zapier lists its own product first in that article, so we use its verdicts on the other tools only. Amanda Caswell’s Tom’s Guide test, published on 10 November 2025, ran seven productivity tasks through ChatGPT and Gemini; ChatGPT won five, including daily planning, meeting prep and time management, and Gemini won writing and research.
Claude led the only benchmark built on email-and-calendar tasks. PA Bench, published by Vibrant Labs on 16 February 2026, asked computer-use agents to finish multi-step jobs that span a replica email app and a replica calendar app.
| Model (PA Bench, February 2026) | Full task success | Average reward, including partial credit |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Opus 4.6 (Anthropic) | 68.8% | 0.73 |
| Gemini 3 Flash preview (Google) | 31.3% | 0.41 |
| Gemini 3 Pro preview (Google) | 25.0% | 0.48 |
| OpenAI CUA (OpenAI) | 12.5% | 0.25 |
PA Bench has three limits that matter. It tested models, not the consumer apps on this page. It used simulated apps, not real Gmail or Google Calendar. Its results table implies a small task set (68.8% equals 11 of 16), and every model tested has since been replaced. Read it as evidence that email-and-calendar work is hard for AI, not as a final ranking.
Calendar specialists split on user ratings. Reclaim.ai has 4.8 from 144 reviews on G2 but 2.2 from 23 reviews on Trustpilot, where most complaints concern billing. Motion has 4.1 from 157 G2 reviews, 4.3 from 89 Capterra reviews and 3.7 from 578 Trustpilot reviews, with credits running out and support handled by a chatbot as the common complaints.
Clockwise is gone. Clockwise, one of the best-known AI calendar assistants, shut down on 27 March 2026 after its team joined Salesforce (The Stack, 20 March 2026). Reclaim.ai publishes a migration guide for former Clockwise users.
How we ranked AI personal assistants
A product is ranked here only when more than one kind of independent source has assessed it: an expert review or controlled test, plus user ratings with real volume behind them, or a benchmark. Vendor claims appear on the page, labelled as claims, and never decide a place.
We weighed five things:
- Independent verdicts on the personal-assistant job: the Zapier and Tom’s Guide reviews, and Zapier’s separate AI scheduling assistants test, updated in September 2026.
- Documented actions: what the vendor’s own help pages say the assistant can do to your email and calendar, not what demos suggest.
- User ratings with volume: App Store, G2, Capterra and Trustpilot, with review counts.
- Price and free access, which break ties.
- Safety controls: whether every send, delete or booking can be set to wait for your approval.
Products that launched recently or have only their own claims behind them are in the “not ranked” section below. Our general method is on how we rank.
Best AI personal assistants ranked

The best AI personal assistants, reviewed
1. ChatGPT: best AI personal assistant overall
ChatGPT is OpenAI’s AI assistant, and it is the best AI personal assistant for most people because both independent head-to-head reviews put it first. Zapier calls ChatGPT “the best overall AI personal assistant” (Zapier). ChatGPT beat Gemini in five of seven productivity tests in Tom’s Guide’s comparison, including daily planning and focus, and time management and accountability. The ChatGPT iPhone app has 4.8 out of 5 from 11 million ratings, the largest rating base of any assistant on this page.
What it does for the assistant job:
- Connected accounts. ChatGPT connects to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Contacts and Outlook email and calendar, and can connect more than one account per service (OpenAI release notes). Availability varies by plan, region and workspace (OpenAI).
- Scheduled tasks. ChatGPT runs tasks on a schedule, such as a morning briefing. OpenAI announced on 18 June 2026 that it was retiring its proactive Pulse briefings and moving proactive updates into scheduled tasks (Gigazine).
- Approvals. ChatGPT lets you choose “Always ask”, “Allow read actions” or “Allow low-risk actions” for each connected app (OpenAI).
- Model. OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 in ChatGPT on 7 October 2026, with GPT-6 Luna for Free and Go users and GPT-6 Sol for paid plans (OpenAI release notes).
The limit to know: ChatGPT lost the writing-and-editing and learning-and-research tests to Gemini in Tom’s Guide’s comparison, and OpenAI’s computer-use model scored 12.5% on PA Bench, the lowest of the four models tested.
Price: Free; Go $8 a month; Plus $20 a month (OpenAI); Pro tiers at $100, $200 and $500 a month (OpenAI release notes).
This was a close call with Gemini. ChatGPT takes first place on the two independent expert verdicts and its rating volume. Gemini is free and sits inside Gmail and Google Calendar. For Google users, Gemini is the better choice.
2. Google Gemini: best for Gmail and Google Calendar users
Google Gemini is the best AI personal assistant for people who live in Gmail and Google Calendar, because it reads that data for free in the US and is built into the apps themselves. Zapier names Gemini the assistant that “turns up where your work already happens” and its pick for Google Workspace (Zapier). The Gemini iPhone app has 4.7 out of 5 from 2.3 million ratings.
What it does for the assistant job:
- Personal Intelligence. Google launched Personal Intelligence on 14 January 2026, letting Gemini draw on Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube and Search history; connecting apps is “off by default” (Google). Google opened Personal Intelligence to all free users in the US on 17 March 2026 (SiliconANGLE). It works with personal Google accounts only, not Workspace business or education accounts.
- Calendar. Gemini creates, reschedules and cancels Google Calendar events from a prompt, but cannot add or update an event’s location or description, or add or invite people (Google Gemini Help).
- Inside Gmail. Gemini in Gmail comes with Google AI Plus ($4.99 a month) and above (Google).
- Daily Brief and Spark. Daily Brief is included from Google AI Plus. Gemini Spark, Google’s always-on agent, is offered first on Google AI Ultra in selected countries (Google).
Price: Free; Google AI Plus $4.99, Google AI Pro $19.99 and Google AI Ultra from $99.99 or $199.99 a month (Google). Google AI plans are for ages 18 and over.
The limit to know: Gemini lost five of seven productivity tests to ChatGPT in Tom’s Guide’s comparison, and Gemini 3 preview models scored 25.0% and 31.3% on PA Bench against Claude Opus 4.6’s 68.8%. Security researchers at Miggo showed in January 2026 that hidden instructions in a Google Calendar invite could make Gemini leak private meeting details (BleepingComputer); Google added mitigations, and it was a demonstration, not an attack seen in the wild.
3. Claude: best for calendar and email actions with approval
Claude is the best AI personal assistant for people who want the assistant to change their calendar while they sign off on each change, because Anthropic documents the widest set of calendar and email actions of the three, for all Claude users. Claude Opus 4.6 had the highest score on PA Bench, completing 68.8% of email-and-calendar tasks in full. The Claude iPhone app has 4.7 out of 5 from 275,000 ratings. Zapier rates Claude “exceptional” as a personal assistant for writing tasks (Zapier).
What it does for the assistant job (Anthropic):
- Google Calendar. Claude can create, update and delete events, set up recurring meetings, find mutual availability across attendees, manage attendee lists and accept, decline or tentatively accept invitations.
- Gmail. Claude searches and reads email, manages labels and creates drafts, and can “send, reply to, and forward emails from Gmail”.
- Approvals. “By default, Claude asks for your approval before each of these actions.” On Team and Enterprise plans, owners decide whether members can let actions run without asking each time.
- Plans. The Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive connectors are available to all Claude users. On Team and Enterprise plans an owner must switch them on first.
Price: Free; Pro $20 a month or $17 a month billed annually; Max from $100 a month (Anthropic).
The limit to know: Claude has fewer independent personal-assistant reviews than ChatGPT and Gemini; Zapier reviewed it mainly as a coding and long-context writing assistant. PA Bench tested Claude Opus 4.6, an earlier model, in simulated apps.
4. Reclaim.ai: best AI calendar assistant
Reclaim.ai is the best AI calendar assistant, because Zapier’s hands-on test of AI scheduling assistants ranks it first and it is the only ranked calendar tool with a free plan. Zapier’s test, updated in September 2026, names Reclaim best for “protecting your habits”. Reclaim has 4.8 out of 5 from 144 reviews on G2 and 4.7 from 10 reviews on Capterra.
What it does: Reclaim blocks focus time, schedules habits such as lunch or exercise, places tasks into free slots, adds buffers between meetings and offers scheduling links, then moves all of it when your meetings change. It works with Google Calendar and Outlook. Dropbox acquired Reclaim in August 2024 (TechCrunch).
Price (Reclaim):
| Plan | Billed annually | Billed monthly | Key limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | Free | Free | 1 user, 1-week scheduling range, 1 calendar sync, 1 scheduling link |
| Starter | $10 a seat a month | $12 | 8-week range, 3 calendar syncs, 3 links |
| Business | $15 a seat a month | $18 | 12-week range, unlimited syncs and links |
| Enterprise | $22 a seat a month | Not offered | SSO and SCIM |
The limit to know: Reclaim has no mobile apps (Zapier). Reclaim’s Trustpilot score is 2.2 from 23 reviews, a small sample dominated by billing complaints.
5. Motion: best for auto-planning your tasks and projects
Motion is the best AI personal assistant for people who want every task placed on the calendar for them, because it schedules your whole task list automatically and re-plans the day when something slips. Zapier names Motion its pick for project management in its personal assistant review, and left Motion out of its scheduling-assistant list, which covers only apps with scheduling at their core (Zapier). Motion has 4.1 out of 5 from 157 reviews on G2, 4.3 from 89 on Capterra, 3.7 from 578 on Trustpilot and 4.1 from 1,900 ratings on the App Store.
What it does: Motion puts Google, Outlook and iCloud calendars in one view, prioritises your tasks, schedules them around meetings and resolves conflicts. It also includes a notetaker, documents and a workflow builder. Motion raised a $38 million Series C at a $550 million valuation in September 2025 (TechCrunch).
Price: Motion’s pricing page lists Pro AI at $19 a seat a month with 7,500 credits and Business AI at $29 a seat a month with 15,000 credits, with a free trial and no free plan. The page offers monthly and annual billing, with annual billing advertised as saving 33%.
The limit to know: Motion’s AI features draw on monthly credits, and running out of credits is the most common complaint in its Trustpilot reviews.
6. Akiflow: best for one inbox for all your tasks
Akiflow is the best AI personal assistant for people whose tasks arrive from many apps, because it pulls them into one inbox and time-blocks them on your calendar. Zapier ranks Akiflow third among AI scheduling assistants, best for “integrations and a single task inbox” (Zapier). Akiflow has 4.8 out of 5 from 99 reviews on G2 and 4.2 from 189 ratings on the App Store.
What it does: Akiflow’s assistant, Aki, takes requests by voice or chat, sends daily briefings and schedules tasks into your calendar (Akiflow).
Price: Pro is $19 a month billed annually ($228 a year) or $34 a month billed monthly, with a 7-day trial that requires a card. An AI meeting assistant is a $19-a-month add-on (Akiflow).
The limit to know: Akiflow is the most expensive tool in Zapier’s scheduling list and has no free plan. Several Trustpilot reviews report charges after cancelling or at the end of a trial.
Best AI calendar assistant
The best AI calendar assistant is Reclaim.ai, because it ranks first in Zapier’s test of AI scheduling assistants and is free for one user on its Lite plan. Calendar assistants differ from chat assistants: they rearrange your calendar continuously without being asked, while ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude change it only when you prompt them.
| AI calendar assistant | What the AI does | Calendars | Free plan | Paid from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reclaim.ai | Focus time, habits, tasks, buffers, scheduling links | Google, Outlook | Yes (Lite) | $10 a seat a month annually |
| Motion | Auto-schedules every task and project, re-plans on conflicts | Google, Outlook, iCloud | No | $19 a seat a month |
| Akiflow | Task inbox, time-blocking, Aki assistant | Not stated on its pricing page | No | $19 a month annually |
| Morgen (not ranked) | Suggests time blocks from weekly templates; schedules after you confirm | Google, Outlook, iCloud, Fastmail | No | $15 a month annually |
| Google Gemini | Creates, reschedules and cancels events from a prompt | Yes | $4.99 a month (AI Plus) | |
| Claude | Creates, edits and deletes events, finds mutual availability, answers invites | Yes | $17 a month annually (Pro) |
If you used Clockwise: Clockwise shut down on 27 March 2026 (The Stack). Reclaim.ai is the closest replacement for Clockwise’s focus-time defence and publishes a migration guide.
Best AI personal assistant for each job
Best for most people
ChatGPT is the best AI personal assistant for most people, because it won both independent head-to-head reviews and covers planning, reminders, research and email drafting in one app.
Best free AI personal assistant
Google Gemini is the best free AI personal assistant in the US, because its free tier reads your Gmail through Personal Intelligence and creates Google Calendar events from a prompt. Outside the US, Claude is the strongest free option for calendar work, because its Gmail and Google Calendar connectors are available to all Claude users.
Best for Gmail and Google Calendar
Google Gemini is the best choice for Gmail and Google Calendar users, because it is built into both apps and Zapier names it the pick for Google Workspace.

Microsoft Copilot connects to Outlook.com mail, calendar and contacts, and to Gmail and Google Calendar, on Copilot.com and the Copilot mobile app (Microsoft), and comes with Microsoft 365 Personal at $9.99 a month (Microsoft). Microsoft’s help page documents finding emails, contacts and calendar entries, not sending email or creating events. Copilot is not ranked here because we found no independent review of it as a personal assistant; for email inside Outlook, see best AI for email.
Best AI calendar assistant
Reclaim.ai is the best AI calendar assistant, because Zapier ranks it first among AI schedulers and it defends focus time automatically.
Best for planning your whole day

The newest agents from the big AI companies are not ranked either, because no independent review of them exists yet. OpenAI launched always-on agents called dots on 29 September 2026 for Pro and Business Premium users (OpenAI release notes), and Google offers Gemini Spark first on Google AI Ultra in selected countries (Google).
OpenClaw: the open-source personal assistant, and its security record
OpenClaw, formerly called Clawdbot and Moltbot, is a free, MIT-licensed personal AI assistant that you run on your own computer or server and connect to your messaging apps, email and calendar. It is not ranked here, because its independent record is mostly security research, and Zapier left it out of its review as not yet mature (Zapier).
- Adoption. OpenClaw’s GitHub repository shows about 391,600 stars and 82,300 forks.
- Who runs it. Creator Peter Steinberger announced on 15 February 2026 that he was joining OpenAI and moving OpenClaw to a foundation (Simon Willison).
- Exposed installs. SecurityScorecard found 40,214 OpenClaw instances exposed to the internet and said 12,812 were exploitable through remote code execution (Infosecurity Magazine, 9 February 2026).
- Malicious add-ons. Koi Security found 341 malicious skills among 2,857 it audited on ClawHub, OpenClaw’s add-on marketplace, most of them installing password-stealing malware on Macs (The Hacker News, 2 February 2026).
Run OpenClaw only if you can secure a server yourself, keep it off the open internet and install skills only from authors you trust.
Is it safe to give an AI assistant your email and calendar?
Giving an AI assistant your email and calendar is reasonably safe for reading and drafting, and riskier for sending, deleting and booking, because anything that arrives in your inbox can carry hidden instructions to the AI. This attack is called indirect prompt injection.
| Date | Incident | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| June 2025 | EchoLeak (CVE-2025-32711) in Microsoft 365 Copilot | Aim Security showed a single crafted email could leak data with no click; Microsoft patched it | The Hacker News |
| January 2026 | Malicious Google Calendar invite against Gemini | Miggo Security hid instructions in an invite that made Gemini copy private meetings into an event the attacker could see; Google added mitigations | BleepingComputer |
| February 2026 | OpenClaw deleted an inbox | A Meta AI security researcher asked OpenClaw to suggest emails to delete or archive; it began deleting messages itself and ignored stop commands | OWASP GenAI |
Five rules keep the risk low:
- Keep approvals on for actions. Set ChatGPT to “Always ask” or “Allow read actions”; Claude asks before each calendar change or email send by default.
- Start read-only. Let the assistant summarise and draft for a few weeks before you let it send or delete anything.
- Connect only the accounts you need. Every connected inbox is another route in.
- Be wary of invites from strangers. The Gemini attack worked through an ordinary-looking calendar invite.
- Check how long the company keeps your data. Google says Gemini “doesn’t train directly on your Gmail inbox” (Google); read each vendor’s own policy before connecting a work account.
Menlo Ventures’ 2026 survey found that 32% of US AI users had already let AI act on their behalf at least once without a final sign-off, and that 76% of people who do not use AI cite privacy concerns (Menlo Ventures).
How to choose an AI personal assistant
- Start with the account you live in. Gmail and Google Calendar point to Gemini; Outlook points to Copilot; a mix points to ChatGPT or Claude, which connect to both.
- Decide whether you want answers or automation. A chat assistant acts when you ask; a calendar assistant such as Reclaim.ai or Motion rearranges your week continuously.
- Check what it can actually do, in writing. Read the vendor’s help page for sending email and editing events; demos often show more than the product does.
- Try the free tier first. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Reclaim.ai all have free plans; Motion, Akiflow, Morgen and Sunsama offer trials only.
- Set the approval level before you connect anything. See the safety rules above.
- Watch usage-based pricing. Motion and Lindy charge in credits that run out; ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude raise limits by plan.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI personal assistant?
The best AI personal assistant for most people is ChatGPT, because both independent head-to-head reviews, from Zapier and Tom’s Guide, rate it the best all-round assistant, and its iPhone app holds 4.8 out of 5 from 11 million ratings. Google Gemini is the better choice for Gmail and Google Calendar users, Claude is the pick for changing your calendar and sending email with approval before each action, and Reclaim.ai is the best dedicated AI calendar assistant.
What is the best free AI personal assistant?
The best free AI personal assistant in the US is Google Gemini, because its free tier reads your Gmail through Personal Intelligence, available to all free US users since 17 March 2026, and creates Google Calendar events from a prompt. Claude’s Gmail and Google Calendar connectors, available to all Claude users, can draft and send email with your approval and create, edit and delete events, and Reclaim.ai’s free Lite plan schedules focus time and tasks for one user.
What is the best AI calendar assistant?
The best AI calendar assistant is Reclaim.ai, because Zapier’s hands-on test of AI scheduling assistants, updated in September 2026, ranks it first and it has 4.8 out of 5 from 144 G2 reviews. Reclaim.ai schedules focus time, habits and tasks around your meetings on Google Calendar and Outlook, and has a free Lite plan, with paid plans from $10 a seat a month billed annually.
Can ChatGPT manage my calendar?
ChatGPT can connect to Google Calendar and Outlook calendars and run scheduled tasks such as a morning briefing. What it may do with them depends on your plan and workspace and on the permission level you set for the app: “Always ask”, “Allow read actions” or “Allow low-risk actions”. Claude and Google Gemini both document creating events on your own Google Calendar.
Can an AI assistant send emails for me?
Some AI assistants can send email. Claude can send, reply to and forward Gmail and asks for your approval before each of those actions by default, and Amazon says Alexa+ can compose and send email by voice.
